How to make scented soy wax candles at home

Who doesn't love a good candle? You use candles to scent your home or office, to unwind or even to take away smells of food and cigar or cigarette smoke. But have you thought of trying your hand at making your own candles? It's super easy and fun for the whole family. There are easy accessible kits at both your local department and craft stores, see this episode here , where I used a candle making kit from Walmart! With kits you can not control the type of wax you have but you can definitely get the wax you need and that I personally prefer from a craft section from the discount department stores or from the craft store online or in store. First, you need soy wax, eight ounce candle tins, candle wicks, color, fragrance, glue dots or a glue gun and glue sticks ( I prefer the latter )...all these items are very affordable. Once you have everything you need, you're going to measure out one pound which is about sixteen ounces. This will give you three 8 ounce candles. The math...

Making Soap Dough Decals ( Soap Dough )

When you think of soap decorations or design, as a soap maker; you're usually imagining something beautiful, colorful and will match the theme of your bar soap! With the Way of Color Bar Soap, I had ocean creatures in mind; whether fictional or real life sea dwellers to add to the soap.  I began, with designing my soap, thinking of a color and fragrance that would coincide with what I had envisioned and what would capture the essence of what I was trying to portray within the soap itself.  With the left over soap, I actually made my soap decals! The process is simple and easy. You simply take soap that hasn't been cured and still loose and cut all air from it. Some make an entire loaf and leave that covered or, like me; you can pour the unused soap and add it to Ziplock or sandwich bags and leave them in the refrigerator overnight. This process should slow the saponification process down and keep the soap soft and moist so it can easily be molded.  When you're ready to ac...

Cold Process Soap Making Collaboration - The Butterbean Shop

Soap collaborations are a big thing with me, not only does it keep the players in the soap making community to come together, but it's a way for you to get to know the individual(s) that you're in the collaboration with get to know one another on a personal and more in depth level.  Meghan from The Butterbean Shop is an absolute doll, not only does she make beautiful soaps for sale she most certainly has to be an amazing mom and mentor; her baby girl is ALWAYS popping up in her videos and that I truly admire. Not only do I respect her as a soap maker but a business woman, so the only logical choice, was to ask her to do a collaboration with me and she so generously said yes! In this soap making collaboration because both of our favorite color is pink, we decided to work around that and a few other sweet elements to make both of our soaps beautiful and whimsical. I chose to use a fragrance from Wholesale Supplies Plus and both titanium dioxide and neon pigments...

Lavender Soap Flowers | Cold Process Soap Making

Lavender Artisan Soap 2018 I don't know about you, but when I think about anything Lavender, I think of soothing, relaxation and rest! Lavender is one of those flowers/buds or essential oils that take you to the next level of existence; although it is definitely an acquired scent and not everyone loves it, you can not deny the effect it has over the mind and body. Said to be the only essential oil that is safest to use on newborns, how could you go wrong with that? Lavender Flowers 2019 When coming up with a floral soap collection for Spring, I could not leave Lavender out of the bunch. Whether you like the way they smell or not, you have to admit they are some beautiful botanical works of art. Lavender can be used for many things, included but not limited to, healing salves, calming balms, lotions and bath oils, bath bombs the list goes on. This year I wanted to kick it up a notch instead of just a boring old purple soap...the usual right!? I encourage y...

DIY BATH DESSERTS - MAKING GLAZED DOUGHNUT BATH BOMBS

Now, be honest, you like the heavenly taste of a soft and chewy warm; technically fried, baked good whether it be glazed, "caked" , cream filled or old fashioned the doughnut or more popularly, donut is undoubtedly delicious. What about in a bath? Picture it, you have a hankering for a doughnut, but you're on a diet or let's just say there's not any good shoppes in town, Dunkin and Krispy Kreme doesn't exist, and then it hits you like a ton of bricks. The sweet aroma of strawberries, cream and sugar smack you right across the face. You go with your nose and you follow that smell, take a look in the window and there it is; before your eyes and to your dismay is a delectable yet; inedible treat. You throw your hands up and teeter with walking away from the shop. In your mind, you know these falsies are just too cute to pass up and you decide to have some much needed relaxation instead of devouring calories. That's what a BodyGarbage bath dessert wi...

DIY Roll On Perfume For Dummies

This is one of the many tutorials For Dummies, I provide on my channel and one of the most interesting products to make. I purchased this DIY set as a kit from Wholesale Supplies Plus. It's super easy to make and it can be a family fun project,  you can make with your kids! The  Fairy Dust fragrance oil  it comes with, is a much acquired scent; but you will get used to it should you choose to use it. It's not horrible but it's certainly not great either. One cool point about it, is it is phthalate free, which in my book is a ginormous plus. This kit is catered towards children, but solely in my own opinion, I feel that this scent is way too strong for children. Those of you who are parents can make that decision at your own discretion. Wholesale Supplies Plus gives you all the tools and supplies you will need to create this fun roll-on perfumes, including a step-by-step list of how to put it together. The kit includes 12 jars, including roller ball and caps to co...

Making Snail Shells Bubble Bath Bars

Oh my goodness me, if you have been following me for a while then you know I love bubble bath bars, bubble bars, solid bubble bath or whatever you call them, ( I like to use my own phrase ) you and the children in your life absolutely loves bubble bars at bath time. Solid bubble bath is a zero waste bubble bath and depending on how it is made, can be reused until there's nothing to use any more. These snail shells bubble bath I made, coincide with a bath collection I have been formulating and creating to put together for you. So far you have read and seen me make the Way of Color soap...haven't seen it yet? Watch here and read the blog here .  I was super inspired by the movie, Avatar: The Way of Water and I just couldn't resist putting together a gift set for this beautifully constructed film.  Wanting to keep with the theme, these snail shells coincide with the bar soap bubble dough. So I made a larger and more vibrant shell for you to use during bath time. Using the sam...

The Way of Color | Avatar : The Way of Water inspired cold process soap

The Way of Color is a soap collection solely inspired by the movie, Avatar: The Way of Water. It was a magnificent movie with lots of color and the most interesting looking creatures. The action and the graphics were top notch and you just can't forget about all the gorgeous water scenes. With that, inspiration took and I got to work on one of the most color collections I have ever put together; aside from making a 3 tier birthday cake ( SEE FIRST VIDEO HERE ), starting with the right bar soap.  When creating this soap in particular, I wanted you, the buyer, to feel where I was coming from and what I meant by "The Way of Color" being the name of this collection and the correlation with the Avatar movie. I wanted it to be vibrant but also sea-like, it needed color and lots of it. Colors that would pop and make the eyes excited. Once we got the perfect colors, we needed the best, most mouth watering scent to make your tastebuds excited. I concocted a scent blend of citruse...
