Who doesn't love a good candle? You use candles to scent your home or office, to unwind or even to take away smells of food and cigar or cigarette smoke. But have you thought of trying your hand at making your own candles? It's super easy and fun for the whole family. There are easy accessible kits at both your local department and craft stores, see this episode here , where I used a candle making kit from Walmart! With kits you can not control the type of wax you have but you can definitely get the wax you need and that I personally prefer from a craft section from the discount department stores or from the craft store online or in store. First, you need soy wax, eight ounce candle tins, candle wicks, color, fragrance, glue dots or a glue gun and glue sticks ( I prefer the latter )...all these items are very affordable. Once you have everything you need, you're going to measure out one pound which is about sixteen ounces. This will give you three 8 ounce candles. The math...
Soap making is a dangerous art, you may not think so; but if you're using a harmful chemical compound to create something new, yes it is indeed dangerous and I still chose to make a soap BLINDFOLDED! What the hell was I thinking for letting Aromatic Suds talk me into this? That's a serious question please answer that for me...lol.
When thinking of making a soap blindfolded, the first thing that came to mind...well the second thing next to was I going to live through this - dramatic I know, so what, shoot me - was the fragrance. I needed something that was going to pop and blow minds just like this video concept. I remembered I had Fairy Dust Fragrance Oil from Wholesale Supplies Plus, from their Fairy Dust Roll On Perfume Kit and it was a perfect match! I didn't love it so much as a perfume, but as a soap fragrance oh my word, it's utterly intoxicating. So fragrance down, now I needed some great mica and that's where Nurture Soap comes in, I love the fact that they have cruelty free and vegan products and oh yea free shipping! So of course they were my go to as I already have a good stock in these mica colors.
All I had to do now was make my soap and figure out a way to not get burned while doing it. Bless her annoying soul, my friend Shaniyah came to my rescue and we had a very long and interesting day. From being hot and sweaty from sheer nervousness and highly anticipated aggravation from Shaniyah I really thought this soap was going to turn out to be a bust. Not only did I have to make, color, and pour the soap I had to pipe it...ughhhhh! I really lost my mind when I agreed to this huh!? Well it got done and I must say it was fun and I'm so proud of myself for accomplishing something new and walking on the wild side, but I'll stop talking...just click below and see for yourself!
